In my previous post, I briefly explained the importance of gratitude, now I am going to be looking closer at some of the proven benefits of living a life of gratitude. This post will come in 2 parts, the first part will look at the emotional benefits of gratitude and the second part will focus on the physical benefits of gratitude.
Gratitude has been shown to create many emotional benefits. Gratitude can….. :
* Make Us Happier- Gratitude makes us feel good when we experience it. In addition, it helps us notice what is already good in our lives instead of what is bad, which helps us develop positive feelings about ourselves and our lives.
* Reduces Symptoms of Depression– Depressed individuals are known to be overly self-focused (This is through no fault of their own, and it doesn’t mean that they are not compassionate or empathetic. Neither does it mean that they are selfish or self-possessed, but they are too focused on their own shortcomings, flaws etc…) . By practising gratitude, attention is directed away from one’s self and towards others and what they are providing for us.
* Improve our self-esteem– Gratitude makes you aware of the good other people do for you. As a result, you feel loved, cared for, and appreciated—which makes you feel better about yourself and improves your self-esteem.
* Increases Our Resilience- Resilience is our ability to bounce back and recover quickly from setbacks or stressful situations. Grateful people are able to see the bigger picture and remember the positive in their lives and seek out more social support.

Good Evening Beautiful Souls. I hope you’ve all had an amazing day so far and are doing well.
Affirmations feature very heavily throughout this blog and the reason is that they are a very powerful tool which is useful on the self-love journey. Words have power and their power cannot be underestimated, even if it’s positive or negative, words have the power to heal or hurt.
Here are some affirmations for you to use when you need a gentle reminder that you are doing great and that loving yourself unconditionally is in no way selfish:

Good Evening Beautiful Souls. I hope you’re all doing well.
There’s an important step in the journey of self-love, it’s simple…. being grateful. Life gets tough sometimes but when we actually take a step back from the chaos for a moment, we will actually see that things are not as bad as we first think. In the chaotic and hectic days of modern life, it’s easy to take things for granted, especially when things are seemingly going well. Even when things don’t look good or the outlook seems bleak, there are lessons to be learned in everything and we should be grateful for each lesson life presents to us, because these are opportunities for soul-growth.
When you see the world through the perspective of gratitude, you will feel better about yourself and your life in general. Nothing is ever as bad as it seems at first and the lessons to be learned just may change your life.
Gratitude makes us healthier and this in turn boosts our overall well-being which increases self-love. We can all find a little something in our lives to be grateful for, it doesn’t have to be huge, even the smallest thing works perfectly. I am grateful for each and every single person who takes the time out of their day to visit this blog and reads my posts. I appreciate every single one of you immensely and I’m honoured that we are taking this journey of self-love together.
In the next post I will look closer at the benefits of living a life of gratitude.
Today I just wanted to share some thoughts with you. I know there haven’t been many updates on this blog of late and I do apologise about that..
When we break Self-Love down to it’s core… It’s a reminder that Self-Love is so simple yet so complex to master… at the end of the day.. Self-Love is all about YOU. When you begin to master the art of unconditionally loving yourself.. You are taking your power back. Your true power that dwells within your authentic self.
Self-Love causes a huge shift in perspective (or at least it did for me… I know everyone’s self-love journey is different and there are no right or wrong ways on this journey).
Recently, I’ve learned through self-love that you are in total control of your life. (take a moment to read that again and let it sink in). Nothing in this world can affect your emotional state unless you allow it to. You are the creator of your life, you have the power within you to overcome any and all hardships in life. You are only responsible for your own actions, your own responses to situations, You cannot control anything outside of you.
When this truly starts to awaken your ability to love yourself unconditionally, you step into your true power, your whole purpose of being comes into focus, you are here on this earth with a purpose and that purpose is unique to you as an individual. No one call tell you how to live your life, your choices are your own and you are in complete control.
In short, you are a magnificent being, made with Divine purpose and you embody the light of the Divine and should allow that light to shine through in all that you do.
On July 7th, once again Mercury enters it’s Retrograde state (I have covered Mercury Retrograde briefly in previous posts) and I know things get a little intense and overwhelming during Mercury Retrograde, technology problems and blocks in communication are notoriously more common during Mercury Retrograde, but it’s not all bad. I am now going to be looking at the positive side of Mercury Retrograde.
Here are 10 positive effects of Mercury Retrograde:
1: Second Chances- Retrograde is a time when the past catches up with you to give you a second chance to do things better than you did the first time. This is a good thing when you think about it, we all have things in our lives we wish we could improve on. Now is the time to go ahead and take another shot.
2: Spiritual Growth- Retrogrades make people focus on researching matters of the spirit when they experience chaos. (Mercury Retrograde is known for bringing chaos!).
3: Forced Patience- Retrogrades will show you just how impatient you really are, which is no good for your mind, body or spirit. Slow down a little during this time, you need to give yourself a break to really focus on what’s going on around you.
4: Time To Relax- Following on from number 3… Retrogrades are times to relax and not do much in order to avoid problems (unexpected problems are common during Mercury Retrograde!). This is a good thing. Enjoy your relaxation time.
5: Truth Is Revealed- Retrogrades pull all the skeletons out the closets for you to see and overcome. The purpose is to correct the energies, which is a really good thing, you will no longer by stuck stagnating in negativity.
6: Crystal Love- Retrograde is a great time to research the power of crystals and if you can, update your collection to help with the crazy energies of the season.
7: Overcome Fears- Retrograde makes you face your fears so you can see just how strong and powerful you really are, and it’s usually more powerful and strong than you think.
8: Set The Record Straight- Retrogrades corrects any wrongs done to you by forcing everyone involved to rethink and take a second to look at matters of the heart, mind and spirit. This allows you to get closure in areas of your life that you seek it.
9: Great Reminders- Retrogrades is like an alarm clock for the spirit to remind it to get back focused on your life journey.
10: New Plans- Retrograde has a way of adjusting the plans that you though you had; just see this time as a new adventure into the unexpected… you never know what yiou might discover.

Many of us worry that practising self-care is selfish or narcissistic, (we know that for a fact that this is NOT the case, never let anyone convince you otherwise!). Or we worry that we don’t have the time or resources to devote to self-care. Our final worry when it comes to self-care is judgement. We fear being judged, (and today’s world is incredibly judgemental….. so who can blame us?) We fear that if we put ourselves first, we will be judged for supposedly neglecting other aspects of our lives, such as family, friends… work etc. Here are some simple reasons why taking care of yourself is vital.
Self-Care is key because:
1: We feel more generous and can avoid building resentments toward others who demand our energy and time. 2: We validate and honour our own worth, which in turn enhances true confidence and self-esteem. 3: We feel alive and whole, so we are able to function at our best and do all the things we want to do. 4: We renew and restore our energy and create energy reserves so we’re able to handle unforeseen challenges more easily. 5: We feel more loving and gentle towards ourselves, which helps us to be more present and calm and to respond wisely, intuitively and effectively in any circumstance. 6: We own our personal power and begin to realise our potential; the more self-accepting we become, the more self-assured we are. 7: We feel more loving and playful in general which makes us better friends, partners, parents etc.. and more fun to be around!. 8: We experience heightened well-being and vitality. ***************************************
